Derick and his girls

Ever since our girls were able to hold a fishing pole, my husband, Derick, was intentional about taking our girls fishing and teaching them the skills of baiting a line, holding a pole, and casting (into the water! 🙂 He has untangled lines, played catch-and-release, and retrieved dropped poles in the water … even standing on tip-toes to get snagged line out of tree branches! It has become a father-daughter tradition to attend Cherokee’s Trout Derby in August every year and the girls look forward to their father-daughter alone time. This would be the 4th anniversary of this tradition. His patience and love of teaching these outdoor skills are unmatched … and he gets to share his love of the water and nature with his children. Such precious memories!
