Amberjack Beach Landing

We hooked this amberjack offshore in the panhandle of Florida while trolling on our Hobie cat sailboat. Thinking it was a huge fish, we started tacking back and forth to get to shore to land this beast. We just knew it was to big for us to handle on the trampoline of the boat! As you can see we landed it and laughed for hours that day and for years after on just how small it was for all the trouble it took to get to shore. He was an incredible outdoors man and taught me everything about hunting and fishing. He’s been gone now for just over 2 years. It would have been nice to take that last fly fishing trip down the Madison River in Montana.
