Best Dad Ever

The best part of fishing with your Dad for over 50 years is that there are so many memorable moments. He taught me to flyfish when I was 9-10 years old and we’ve been fishing together since then. This past spring we had a day on the water that really stands out. Early spring fishing for trout that haven’t seen flies in a few months made for a great day. Many trout were lost and several better than average ones put in the net. But after all these years, fly fishing is really just an excuse. We drive hours, put on all the gear, shiver in the cold, squint in the sun, get tangled in the trees, slip in the mud, sip from the flask, and generally just enjoy the time together. Spending time with my Dad on the water is really what it’s all about. Catching fish is a bonus.
