My dad is quite the talented fly fisherman. He has taught many people this skill, including me and my brothers. One year, at Lake Almanor, CA, I felt I was ready to learn. I’m sure his patience was tested as he helped guide me, but he never showed it. My dad let me ride on the back of his float tube with him so he could assist when needed, and teach me the finer points of the sport. Not only did we fish together, but I was able hear stories about his many fishing trips, life lessons, and his life growing up. You can learn a lot when you’re out fishin’. He seems to be magnetic to fish because the second he casts his line, all the fish come for his hook! I love that we release the fish back into the water so they can live a long life. Great memories are made on the water!
