Appalachian Trail Memories
I created this photo using the ghosting images of a special spot on the Appalachian Trail with my father. It makes me feel that he would have loved the fact that I wanted to relive this special moment on the trail. My father passed 8 years ago. I have always wondered why I have had a love of the Appalachian Trail. I now know why. Recently I was looking through some old family photos and discovered the image on the left of the photo. It was taken at Newfound Gap on the AT in 1959. As a section hiker of the AT, I decided to recreate this photo in the same spot last year. The sign has changed but the trail remains in the same place so I was able to stand in virtually the same spot as I did when I was 4 years old. My father instilled in me a love of the mountains and the great outdoors so recreating this photo was 62 years in the making
